When you’re working with potentially dangerous equipment or in a hazardous environment, it’s crucial that you sta­­y aware of your surroundings. If you’re not paying attention, you or someone else could end up in a dangerous situation, leading to accidents or injuries. Situational awareness is a skill that allows us to be persistently aware of our surroundings, so we can avoid accidents and injuries and make sure we get the job done right. In this course, we’ll discuss the basics of situational awareness and its three main components. We’ll also go over some common barriers that can interfere with situational awareness.
